GolfPsych. . . Think Like A Champion©
Fall 2002
As summer is past and we prepare for another season of sunshine and golf in the desert, let's take a moment for the mental component of this great game!
This movie has been around for a while now, but I highly recommend it for its message on the mental aspect of golf. The movie is The Legend of Bagger Vance. Junuh (Matt Damon) had all the physical attributes to be a champion, but his thinking was off. His very wise caddie (Will Smith) taught him how to think like a champion. Bagger tells Junuh to "see the field". . . that's using your right brain to get into The Zone. Letting his hands find the grip is getting the feel. And then, he is to strike the ball. . . see, feel, do. Those are the sequences for the right brain in utilizing the techniques of GolfPsych.
As a new season of golf approaches, if you would like to work on the mental component to your game, I would be delighted to work with you. In the meantime, you may wish to pick up a copy of the book that teaches these techniques: The 8 Traits of Champion Golfers by Dr. Deborah Graham.
Remember the key is to: Think Like a Champion
